Border Collies

Purchasing a Rising Sun Border Collie

Rising Sun Border Collies are bred first and foremost for their herding ability, which could make them unsuitable as ordinary household pets. Border Collies are bred to work all day. They need to be exercised every day both mentally and physically.

Border Collies can be more than a "little weird". and a lot of people are not prepared to deal with their quirky temperaments and obsessions. Border Collies will exhibit herding traits, including some nipping of heels, attempts to herd objects (and people) together, and a desire to stop motion.

Some people find this behavior objectionable. If left alone and not given adequate attention and exercise they will become bored and seek to amuse themselves in ways you will not find amusing -- like barking, howling, digging, being destructive, etc.

Their high intelligence makes Border Collies a challenge to the novice pet owner.  Basic obedience training is a must, as it is with any dog.  They are normally very eager to please their owner, but can be quite strong-willed.

Rising Sun Puppies have made top class performance dogs in agility, not to mention their success on the Sheepdog Trials field. If you think that you want a working Border Collie puppy, research before you buy.
